Gedling Borough Council firmly objected to the Wind Turbine application with 16
votes against and 2 votes for.
This is a resounding success for everyone involved in this campaign and for all
of us who would be directly affected by this application.
The Gedling Borough Planning Department did a very thorough and professional
analysis on this application and their recommendations to the Planning Committee
can be read here.
The Planning Committee by a majority of 16-2 voted to go with the recommendations
of the Planning Officers.
We will keep you posted of any further updates as they happen.
!!!!!!!!DECISION TIME IS HERE!!!!!!!!!

application.
The planning meeting will take place at

We have recently submitted our updated objection document (see here) to the
Planning Committee with the hope that they will see fit to reject this
application.
National Trust comes out against 'public menace' of wind farms
- 13/02/2012
The National Trust is now "deeply sceptical" of wind power, its chairman said as
he launched an outspoken attack on the "public menace" of turbines destroying
the countryside. Read the full
The Gedling Borough Planning committee have agreed an extension of time with STW
and committed themselves to making a decision in April 2012.
The BJPC and Re-volt submitted their objections to GBC last year and as a result
they went back to STW for further information and clarification on various
issue. TNEI (STW's representatives) have submitted further information to GBC
but on the face of it, there are no significant changes within their application
so our existing objections still stand.
The latest planning documents are available for viewing at Here.
The BJPC have distributed their latest newsletter which you should have all
received this weekend asking for everyone to object again. As far as we are
aware all original objection letter still stand but we are urging residents to
keep objecting, thereby showing GBC how we feel about this application.
Since our last objections were submitted the GBC Planning committee has changed
and so we are updating our objections where necessary and re submitting them.
The BJPC Wind Turbine Action Group are currently finalising the their obection
and we at re-volt are doing the same.
You may be aware that GBC have recently approved the planning application for
the contruction of a 65m turbine in Woodborough despite their being over 1,100
objections from local residents. This goes to show that we need to be very clear
as to why we are objecting and that we need to keep up the pressure.
We will update our website with any breaking news as it happens.
Promising news for turbines at Burton Joyce
The planning decision by Gedling BC now looks like it will be made in July 2011 or maybe a little later. Organisations such as Sport England and the Environment Agency have all raised concerns and we are confident that the planning committee will reject the turbine proposal.
So far all of STW’s turbine proposals have been rejected at local planning level. The proposal at Curborough, Lichfield has just been rejected at national level too. This bodes very well for us as the turbine proposal is very similar to that proposed at Burton Joyce, i.e. the turbines will be close to and in full view of many homes.
The government inspector for Curborough felt that the turbines would be both overwhelming for nearby residents. In his own words he states,
"They have habitable rooms, including living rooms, which would have clear, uninterrupted views of the site across essentially open land. In these circumstances, because of the distance involved and the juxtaposition of the properties to the turbine, I conclude that this tall, rotating structure would be overwhelming, obtrusive and unavoidable to the residents of these properties such that their amenities would be unacceptably impaired."
You may have received the latest Burton Joyce Parish Council newsletter and enclosed template letter.
Please remember to write your name and address in the top right hand corner and sign your name at the bottom as omitting to do this will invalidate your objection.

Please visit the link below to the 'One Show' about wind turbines near you**
Take a look at the One Show broadcast on the 19th May. Click on the link and fast forward to 18 minutes for an honest insight in to what it’s like to live next to a wind turbine. Watch out for “disco effects”, “strobing”, “headaches” and “ice throw”. (And a little bit of house value thrown in for good measure!)
Two open days have been arranged at the Canarvon Rooms in Burton Joyce to encourage residents to come and take a look at the findings of the working groups, and to gather more information about the appllication. They will be a very informal, and a chance to come and chat to us about your concerns.

How to object **
Some of you may have received a letter from Gedling Borough Council (View Here) notifying you about the planning application and telling you how to object. You need to get any letters of objection to GBC by the as soon as possible.
If you visit the 'How To Object' section of this site there is a letter template and guidelines indicating how to object.

What Re-volt are doing to object **
Behind the scenes we have been working along side the surrounding Parish Councils, and a number of working groups have been formed to analyse and asses the STW application.
It is the intention of the Burton Joyce Parish Council and Re-Volt to prepare seperate objection documents to the current application.

Noise & General Impact!
davidjhurst — 30 November 2008 — In England, wind Turbines are being built withinh 1 kilometer of family home, causing misery.
Apparently there is no issue with Safety!

PLANNING APPLICATION SUBMITTED**
Severn Trent Water have applied for Planning Permission for the 'Erection of two wind turbines plus underground cabling, access track, control building, temporary site compound and ancillary development.'.
As of yet we have no access to their submission or supporting documents. As soon as these are available we will post them here for download.
Thank you to everyone who came to
the village meeting on Thursday 19th November. Upwards of
150 people came to listen to presentations by the Parish
Council, Severn Trent and of course Re-volt. The strength
of feeling in the room was strong and it's fair to say that
the majority of the people at the meeting were opposed to
Severn Trent's wind farm proposal.

Keeping in touch **
Thank you to everyone who has e-mailed
us their contact details or left their details on the sheets
last night. We will strive to keep you informed of the progress
that we make. If we haven't yet got your details then please
send them to info@re-volt.org.uk.
If you would like to join
the Re-volt committee then please do let us know.
At the moment we are an incredibly small band of people
so offers of assistance would be very appreciated.
Who is Re-volt?
We are a group of concerned Burton Joyce residents who
are horrified by Severn Trent Water’s plans to construct
wind turbines a short distance from our homes. If you're
not sure why we're horrified click on the 'local impact'
links.
To see the location of the turbines please click here
or look below. On google earth we have plotted the locations
of the turbines (from the STW OS map), this has allowed
us to plot the distance to homes. (*We have done our best
to put the turbines in the precise locations, we may be
a little out in our distances but not by much!) Click on
the picture to go to a larger version.
As you can see some homes are as close as 588m away.
Can you help us?
Please join the re-volt to help stop the building of the
turbines that will irretrievably affect all of our lives.
At the moment we are a very small band of people. We need
to be bigger. We need help distributing leaflets and generally
raising awareness. We also need people to carry out research.
If you have any professional expertise or knowledge we would
very much welcome your support.
If you would like to help then please do get in touch.
We can be contacted by e-mail at info@re-volt.org.uk
A very big thank you
We would like to take this opportunity to thank BLOT
(Belvoir Locals Oppose Turbines). BLOT has very kindly helped
us with the content on our website. BLOT has successfully
fought several wind farm developments in the Belvoir area
but are still involved in ongoing appeals made by developers.
BLOT have just launched their BLOTTERY to help fund ongoing
appeals. Visit the BLOT website for more information.
