House Prices

There have been various small studies into the impact that wind farms have on house prices. The conclusions of the surveys are mixed, some citing a reduction in property values and some concluding that the effect is negligible.

We ask that you come to your own conclusion. Would you consider buying a house that was detrimentally affected by a wind turbine, either by the noise created or by the visual impact? What effect would that have on the property's value and its saleability?

The Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors sets out the negative effects of wind farms on property values in its 2004 report entitled 'Impact of wind farms on the value of residential property and agricultural land'.
