List of key objections
Start your objection with the words “I am writing to object to the proposed wind turbine development at Burton Joyce / Stoke Bardolph for the following reasons:”
Choose your reasons from the list below and please re-write them to make them your own, add your own personal reasons too. e.g.
“My home will be affected by shadow flicker and this will reduce the enjoyment of my home and garden.” or “I live within 1.5 km of the turbines and my children may be kept awake at night because of the noise they will make.”
- Noise pollution and disturbance - There is a possibility of disturbance from both low frequency noise and aerodynamic modulation for homes within a 2 km radius. Approximately 3000 homes fall within 2 km of the turbines. / Although the impact of noise has been calculated there is evidence that estimating noise is very difficult and estimates are often inaccurate. / Some wind farms have caused serious noise problems for residents.
- Inappropriate construction on the green belt / loss of amenity - This development would have a significant adverse effect on the landscape character and visual amenity. / This green belt environment will be irrevocably spoilt by the construction of huge industrial structures.
- Shadow and /or solar flicker - Some homes will be affected by shadow and/or solar flicker reducing the amenity of those homes and enjoyment of them.
- Proximity to homes - The turbines are too close to houses and will spoil the amenity of homes and gardens. / Approximately 3000 homes are located within a 2 km of the turbines. / Many countries and authoritative bodies recommend a 2 km set back between turbines and residential areas.
- Highway safety / proximity to A612 - The A612 is a busy road for vehicles, cyclists and pedestrians, the turbines will be a distraction and increase the risk of road traffic incidents and accidents.
- Health and safety / dangers - There are recorded instances of ice fling from blades, wind turbines collapsing, exploding and blades shearing, there is potential risk to residents, visitors and wild life. / Some footpaths are as close as 240 m to a turbine.
- Negative impact on health and sleep - There is scientific evidence that the health of some people living close to wind turbines deteriorates as a direct result of living close to turbines. / Studies show that turbines have a particularly negative impact on the sleep patterns of children.
